Position SummaryTo formulate, develop and monitor the implementation of HSS policies, systems, procedures and standards for existing activities and any new operations within LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort to ensure effective safety management.

Responsibilities

• Drives the HSS strategy for LLMR and sets the agenda/framework for continuous improvement.
• Lead Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2022 and its regulation compliance planning, implementation, and performance review. 
• Lead HSS training implementation and awareness drive initiatives, including Malaysian regulatory driven training, ie fire safety and Merlin requirements, ie HSS toolkits. 
• Provides strategic direction, guidance, coaching and development to LLMR senior management to enable the Resort to own and drive their HSS programs / improvements.
• Evaluates HSS risks for all LLMR activities, operations and develops controls to manage and reduce these risks. Robustly audits compliance against such standards.
• Develops strategies and ideas alongside resorts leadership team to reduce accident levels and improve safety performance.
• Develops and maintains an effective HSS risk assessment strategy and via an auditing program ensures that all risks are sufficiently identified and controlled.  
• Responsible for the development and drafting of new HSS standards, processes, and procedures for LLMR.
• Responsible for undertaking cost/benefit and gap analyses as an integral element to the development and approval of new HSS standards and procedures.
• Undertakes impact assessments for any new HSS legislation and industry Codes of Practice / Standards where they could impact LLMR.
• Helps ensure alignment to relevant Malaysian, Internal Merlin, EN, ASTM and other relevant management standards.
• Ensures the effective management of ride, facilities, fire, and food risks (and other core risks) at LLMR in conjunction with other members of the leadership team.
• Drives the focus on culture change in LLMR through the ‘Protecting the Magic campaign and initiatives which reinforce the Groups HSS vision, strategy, and culture.
• Provides relevant and meaningful Management Information on achievements of HSS objectives in LLKR against agreed KPIs to monitor progress against targeted improvements.
• Presents and reports upon HSS performance, issues, and concepts at LLMRs senior leaderships meetings.
• Proactively supports the development and execution of Group-wide HSS programs and standards, as required, particularly as they relate to LEGOLAND Parks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Masters degree in health & safety, Engineering, Applied Sciences or related field.
• Registered Safety & Health Officer with Malaysian Safety & Health Department are preferred.
• Additional certifications to relevant Malaysian legislations/ international standards are preferred.
• Experience in Health and Safety management is essential for this role.
• People management experience and skills are essential for this role.
• Experience in leading Malaysian Occupational Safety & Health Act and its regulations compliance planning, implementation and performance review are essential for this role.
• Relevant experience within the theme park, entertainment, or leisure environment is preferred. Alternatively, similar experience in other medium to high-risk environments will be essential.
