About the Role:
The Financial Controller will be a pivotal leader within our manufacturing organization, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to drive efficiency and profitability. This role requires a robust understanding of manufacturing processes, cost accounting principles, inventory management, and a strong commitment to financial control and compliance within the Malaysian regulatory landscape.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting:- Oversee the complete financial accounting cycle, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for the manufacturing entity, adhering to strict deadlines.
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial statements (e.g., Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and relevant statutory requirements.
- Ensure all financial reporting is compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
- Coordinate and manage the annual external audit process, acting as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust cost accounting systems to accurately track and analyze manufacturing costs (e.g., raw materials, direct labor, manufacturing overheads).
- Conduct in-depth analysis of production variances (e.g., material usage, labor efficiency, overhead spending) and identify root causes.
- Provide detailed cost information to support pricing decisions, new product development, make-or-buy analyses, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Implement and monitor standard costing methodologies and ensure their regular review and update.
- Oversee the financial aspects of inventory management, including valuation (e.g., FIFO, Weighted Average), costing, and obsolescence provisions.
- Collaborate closely with Production and Supply Chain teams to ensure effective inventory control, minimize waste, and optimize inventory levels.
- Manage and reconcile physical inventory counts with system records.
- Analyze inventory turnover and identify strategies to reduce carrying costs and improve working capital.
- Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes for the manufacturing operations, working collaboratively with various department heads (e.g., Production, Sales, HR).
- Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, providing insightful variance analysis and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to manufacturing operations (e.g., unit cost, production efficiency, OEE, scrap rates).
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve a strong internal control framework to safeguard company assets, ensure the integrity of financial data, and mitigate financial risks.
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures, as well as all relevant Malaysian tax laws (e.g., corporate tax, SST), labor laws, and financial regulations.
- Oversee statutory filings and ensure timely compliance with local authorities.
- Act as a key financial business partner to the Plant Manager/Head of Operations, providing financial insights and support for operational decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
Profile
- Degree in Finance, Accounting or related professional qualification. Those with Master Degree will have added advantage;
- Minimum 8 years related experience in similar field;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Candidate with experience holding financial controller / management role will have an added advantage;
- Experienced in liaising with bankers on funding requirements & project accounting;
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen;
- Candidate possesses sound knowledge of manufacturing financial operations will have an added advantage;
- Excellent leadership skills and able to motivate and develops others;
- Aggressive, visionary and willing to take calculated risk for dynamic business growth;
- Attentive to details, alert and capable of identifying business growth & cost saving opportunity as well as process improvement alternative;
- Strong understanding of latest accounting standard;
- Strong reporting and organizational skills.
Job Offer
