Trade Executive (Import/Export and Customs Relations)
We are seeking a capable and proactive Trade Executive to manage and facilitate all trading activities, including import and export permits, customs documentation, shipping coordination, and relationship-building with customs authorities and forwarding agents. This role is critical to ensure the smooth movement of goods across borders and to maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Import & Export Management:
- Prepare, apply, and manage all necessary import/export permits and documentation.
- Monitor regulatory changes affecting trade compliance (e.g., customs tariffs, license requirements).
- Ensure timely customs clearance for all shipments.
Customs and Government Liaison:
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with customs officers, port authorities, and government agencies.
- Handle inspections, audits, or customs queries professionally and promptly.
Shipping & Forwarding Coordination:
- Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping agents, and transport companies for optimal shipping arrangements.
- Ensure accuracy of shipping documents (Bill of Lading, Packing List, Invoice, COO, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and resolve any logistical or clearance issues.
Trade Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with all international and local trade regulations.
- Keep internal stakeholders updated on shipping and customs matters.
Internal Support:
- Support procurement, sales, and finance teams with trading-related documentation and processes.
- Provide advice on Incoterms, HS codes, duties, taxes, and shipment cost optimization.
Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related fields.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in international trade operations.
- Good understanding of Malaysian import/export regulations, shipping procedures, and Incoterms.
- Experience liaising with customs, MITI, MAQIS, MOH, or related government bodies is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and high integrity.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
Advantages (Bonus Skills):
- Familiarity with HS Code classification and customs valuation rules.
- Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (e.g., ASEAN, MPCEPA, RCEP).
- Experience in handling food/healthcare product imports
