DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitor and resolve production problems
  2. Day shift - 7 day rotation schedule includes weekends and holidays
  3. Complete production tickets when a current ticket does not exist
  4. Troubleshoot problems to determine severity and priority
  5. Resolve problem or escalate to the resolution person/group
  6. Handoff information to resolution party
  7. Maintain communications with resolution party until problem is resolved or a workaround is put in place
  8. Track (document) problem through resolution
  9. If problem was resolved outside this group and based on the resolution, document steps that the Global Analysis & Resolution group can take to resolve this problem in the future
  10. Identify and document fixes that require program changes and/or procedure changes
  11. Work with other groups/departments to assist in creating permanent resolution/fixes
  12. Continuously strive to improve customer support, identifying opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness
  13. Monitor production systems using HP OpenView and other applications and respond accordingly
  14. Create and/or maintain operations process/procedure and problem resolution documentation as required
  15. Assist other Operations Engineers, as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. Excellent analytical skills
  2. Excellent technical troubleshooting skills as it relates to:
  3. Network Technologies (routing, switching, load balancing)
  4. Security (Firewall, VPN)
  5. Java
  6. Excellent verbal and written skills
  7. Ability to influence/facilitate and negotiate with other groups, departments, individuals
