MIG Welder (BCA/Construction Sector)

Job Scope

1. Structural Welding & Fabrication

  • Weld structural steel components (e.g., beams, columns, bracings) for buildings or infrastructure projects.
  • Use MIG welding to assemble prefabricated metal sections according to BCA-approved designs.
  • Ensure compliance with BCAs CONQUAS standards for construction quality.

2. Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation

  • Read and interpret BCA-regulated engineering drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
  • Ensure accurate measurement and fit-up of components before welding.

3. Site or Workshop Welding

  • Perform welding on-site or at precast/component fabrication yards.
  • Coordinate with main contractors or subcontractors to complete welding work as per schedule.

4. Quality & Safety Compliance

  • Conduct visual and dimensional checks on welds.
  • Comply with BCAs Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) guidelines.
  • Use proper PPE and safe welding practices on-site.

5. Equipment Handling & Maintenance

  • Set up MIG welding machines, gas flow regulators, and wire feeders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of welding equipment per site protocols.

6. Collaboration with BCA-Certified Personnel

  • Work under supervision of BCA-registered professionals or site supervisors.
  • Assist in preparing for BCA inspections or third-party welding quality audits (e.g., for CONQUAS scoring).

Certifications & Skills Beneficial in BCA-Regulated Work

  • WSQ or CoreTrade Certification (Welding Works)
  • BCA Construction Safety Orientation Course (CSOC)
  • Understanding of CONQUAS scoring standards
  • Familiarity with site safety protocols and risk assessments

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From RM5,000.00 per month
