Position Summary:

The Senior Field Service Engineer - Thermal Solutions is responsible for providing technical expertise, on-site support, and maintenance for Vertivs thermal management solutions, including precision cooling systems, CRAC/CRAH units, in-row cooling, and liquid cooling technologies. This role involves installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and customer support to ensure the reliability and efficiency of mission-critical cooling infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation & Commissioning

  • Perform installation, startup, and commissioning of Vertivs thermal solutions.
  • Ensure proper configuration and integration with power, IT, and facility infrastructure.
  • Conduct performance testing and validation to meet system specifications.

2. Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in cooling equipment.
  • Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting for customers.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to perform root cause analysis.

3. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Conduct regular inspections, cleaning, and servicing of cooling units.
  • Perform component replacements, firmware updates, and calibration adjustments.
  • Ensure cooling systems meet efficiency and performance benchmarks.

4. Emergency Response & On-Call Support

  • Provide 24/7 emergency support to minimize system downtime.
  • Respond quickly to critical cooling failures in data centers and other facilities.

5. Customer Training & Support

  • Educate customers on best practices for cooling system operation and maintenance.
  • Provide recommendations for energy efficiency improvements and system optimization.

6. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all service activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain detailed service logs, technical reports, and maintenance records.

7. Continuous Improvement & Technical Expertise

  • Provide feedback to engineering and R&D teams for product enhancements.
  • Stay updated on new cooling technologies, refrigerants, and energy-efficient practices.
  • Mentor and train junior field service engineers to enhance team capabilities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or HVAC Engineering (or a related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in thermal solutions, HVAC, or data center cooling systems.
  • Strong expertise in precision cooling, CRAC/CRAH, in-row cooling, and refrigerant-based systems.
  • Hands-on experience with cooling system controls, PLCs, and monitoring software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and service manuals.
  • Experience with refrigerant handling, leak detection, and system charging (EPA certification preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites for service assignments.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in HVAC, refrigeration (EPA 608), or data center cooling systems.
  • Experience with liquid cooling technologies, adiabatic cooling, and free-cooling systems.
  • Knowledge of DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) and remote monitoring tools.
