Job description
Position Overview: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Manager, Finance to support the day-to-day financial operations of the company. This role is responsible for assisting in financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting principles, analytical skills, and experience in supervising a small team.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger: Prepare and post journal entries including those related to prepayments, accruals, and provisions. Maintain accurate schedules and ensure timely month-end closing.
Fixed Asset & Right-of-Use (ROU) Asset Management: Maintain and update asset and lease registers, ensure accurate tracking and tagging and prepare related journal entries for depreciation, amortisation, lease liabilities, and reinstatement provisions.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight: Liaise with the AP team to monitor outstanding invoices and identify accruals or provisions; review AR processes to support the F&B retail team in managing receivables and aging.
SST Checking & Filing: Perform bi-monthly SST review and ensure timely submission of SST filings. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with tax regulations and relevant accounting standards.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, including the balance sheet, profit and loss, and related schedules.
Compliance and Risk Management: Support compliance processes and internal controls to ensure alignment with company policies, financial standards and regulatory requirements.
Tax & Audit Support: Liaise with tax agents and support statutory audits by providing relevant documents and timely responses to queries.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Degree in Finance or Accounting with good knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
Previous work experience in a retail industry or QSR preferred.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office suite, and familiarity with financial software (ERP: Microsoft Dynamics, POS: Oracle)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good time management and organizational skills, ability to prioritise tasks.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information.
