Overview The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring that all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. This role involves supervising housekeeping staff, ensuring efficient cleaning procedures, and coordinating with other hotel departments to meet guest expectations. The Housekeeping Supervisor is key in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and a welcoming environment for guests.
THE JOBSCOPE
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of housekeeping staff, including room attendants, public area attendants, and laundry staff.
- Assign daily tasks to housekeeping team members and ensure they are carried out efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Provide training and guidance to new and existing staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety standards, and customer service expectations.
- Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and conduct regular evaluations to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, restrooms, and back-of-house areas according to hotel standards.
- Conduct room inspections to ensure cleanliness, attention to detail, and compliance with guest satisfaction standards.
- Ensure that all cleaning equipment and supplies are used correctly and maintained in good working condition.
- Report any maintenance issues or damage to rooms and facilities to the maintenance department for timely resolution.
- Ensure that guest rooms and public areas are consistently clean, well-maintained, and stocked with amenities, contributing to an excellent guest experience.
- Handle guest requests or complaints regarding cleanliness or housekeeping services promptly and professionally, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction.
- Monitor guest feedback related to housekeeping services and implement improvements as needed.
- Maintain proper inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities, ensuring that stock is reordered in a timely manner to avoid shortages.
- Ensure that housekeeping supplies and equipment are stored correctly and safely.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including proper handling and disposal of cleaning chemicals and maintaining cleanliness of all areas.
- Ensure that all housekeeping staff adhere to sanitation and hygiene protocols, particularly in guest rooms and food service areas.
- Monitor the housekeeping team for compliance with safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper lifting techniques.
- Coordinate with the Front Desk, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and guest requests are addressed promptly.
- Assist with the management of room statuses (e.g., room ready, out of order) in collaboration with the Front Desk.
- Maintain daily logs of housekeeping activities, including staff attendance, completed tasks, and any guest concerns.
- Assist with scheduling and staffing to ensure proper coverage in all areas.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2-3 years of experience in housekeeping or a similar role, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience in a hotel or hospitality setting.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety standards.
- Ability to handle guest concerns and complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and move around quickly to inspect rooms and ensure team members are on task.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional certification or training in hospitality management or housekeeping is a plus.
