About the Role

As an English educator in our Primary division (KS1/2), you will play a key role in developing students ability to think critically, express themselves confidently, and engage meaningfully with literature and language. You will design engaging, student-centered lessons that build strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills—laying a solid foundation for their IGCSE English journey. You will guide students to explore diverse texts, appreciate themes of truth, identity, and purpose, and connect language learning with real-world communication and core values that shape responsible, thoughtful individuals. Your role is vital in nurturing students into thoughtful readers, articulate writers, and compassionate communicators.

Who are we looking for individuals with:

• A Bachelors Degree.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, ideally in an international or Cambridge setting.

• A solid understanding of classroom management strategies and school protocols.

• Familiarity with Cambridge English content, assessment rubrics, and tracking student progress.

• Proficiency in digital tools and classroom technology to enhance instructional delivery.

• Strong abilities in:

  • Logical reasoning and problem-solving

  • Analytical and abstract thinking

  • Numerical proficiency and attention to detail

  • Clear communication and effective collaboration

• A growth mindset—open to constructive feedback, reflective practice, and self-improvement.

What will you need to do

• Teach up to 18 hours per week of Primary or Lower Secondary English classes.

• Prepare and deliver lessons that align with LUCAs Annual Topical/Skillset Plans (ATASP) and the Cambridge English curriculum.

• Create and submit high-quality keynotes, worksheets, and assessments at least one week before lesson delivery for review and approval.

• Adapt teaching strategies to suit 21st-century learning approaches, fostering problem-solving, creativity, and independent thinking.

• Provide timely feedback through marked assignments and progress evaluations; maintain comprehensive student records.

• Identify students strengths and learning gaps and implement intervention or enrichment strategies accordingly.

• Design and assess Semester Project Work and participate in curriculum reviews for continuous improvement.

• Serve as a class teacher when required and provide lesson cover for absent colleagues.

• Lead or participate in at least one Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) program to enrich student learning.

• Collaborate with division heads and colleagues in lesson planning, curriculum mapping, and professional development.

• Maintain a respectful and disciplined classroom environment that reflects LUCAs core values (Respect, Integrity, Passion, Excellence - RIPE).

• Engage in school events and parent communications, contributing to community building and student well-being.
