This role requires travelling various FFM sites. 

Summary

The Energy Manager will oversee the development and implementation of energy management strategies and recommend energy-efficient solutions. This person will provide technical expertise on energy management practices, ensure compliance with energy regulations, and help the organization reduce energy consumption and costs while promoting sustainability. Additionally, the Energy Manager will supervise Energy Efficiency & Conservation Act (EECA) compliance and non-compliance sites that have obtained Energy Audit Conditional Grants (EACG), ensuring they provide energy-saving measurement reports. 

Responsibilities 

  • Advise energy consumers on any energy-saving measures and monitor their implementation.
  • Propose energy-saving action plans and appropriate measurement and verification strategies to the Energy Management Committee, based on findings from energy audit report.
  • Perform additional duties as determined by the Commission.
  • Collect and document supplementary data relevant to energy performance, including:
  • Production outputs, process counts, and operating hours from industrial facilities.
  • Inventory of processes and equipment in Significant Energy Users (SEUs);
  • Variables affecting energy consumption (e.g., shutdown days, occupancy rates).
  • Manage assigned projects and sustainability initiatives on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Support ad-hoc projects and provide subject matter expertise as needed.
  • Serve as a role model and advocate for the companys culture and values both internally and externally.

Education & Qualification

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental), Energy Management, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Certified as a Registered Energy Manager (REM) by the Energy Commission of Malaysia.
  • Additional credentials such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) from recognized international l bodies (e.g., Association of Energy Engineers) are highly advantageous.
  • Certification or training in ISO 50001 relevant energy management systems is an added advantage.

Relevant Experience & Years of Service

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in energy management, energy audits, or energy efficiency projects.
  • Proven track record in implementing and managing energy-saving initiatives, including renewable energy integration and the development of energy management systems. (EnMS).
  • Hands-on experience conducting energy audits and formulating energy-saving action plans.
  • Familiarity with sustainability programs, carbon reduction strategies, and green building certification processes.
  • Solid understanding of local energy regulations and policies, including EACG/EACC compliance requirements.

Technical Skills & Professional Knowledge

  • Skilled in conducting comprehensive energy audits for industrial systems to assess usage, efficiency, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Proficient in analyzing energy data to identify trends, key consumption metrics, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Experienced in implementing energy efficiency technologies, including LED lighting, HVAC systems, electric motors, building automation, and smart metering.
  • Knowledgeable in integrating renewable energy sources (e.g., solar, wind) into existing infrastructure to reduce grid dependency.
  • Strong grasp of cost-benefit analysis and ROI calculations for energy-saving initiatives.
  • Well-versed in local energy laws and regulations, including the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Act and Energy Commission of Malaysia requirements.
  • Capable of managing energy-related projects from planning through execution, including budgeting, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated leadership in promoting a culture of sustainability and energy efficiency within organizations.
